Zodiac Siblings Book 3
L.N. Bokete was born in Seattle to African parents. She grew up between worlds and spent enough time in Botswana as a child to absorb the folklore firsthand. Not from books. From the people who believed it. She has been living off that ever since.
She writes paranormal romance rooted in African mythology because these stories were already hers. The Tokoloshe was not a creature she researched it was a creature she was warned about. The question she kept asking was: what if everything we were told about it was wrong? What if it was never the monster? The Tokoloshe Shifter Mates series is her answer to that. A reimagining. Protectors misread as predators. Love finding a way in despite a hundred years of fear.
“The mythology was always there. I just wrote the love stories around it.”
The Totem Series came out of a luxury safari in Zambia during COVID that specific, strange quiet of being surrounded by animals with nowhere else to go. It asked a question she couldn't shake: what if your totem animal going extinct meant your entire clan died with it? The series imagines a future Africa run by women, where the bond between human and animal is not spiritual metaphor but survival fact.
The Zodiac Siblings is something else entirely twelve divine siblings, twelve love stories, one ancient threat threading through all of them. Set in Nairobi. Built to prove that the youngest, the quietest, the one everyone underestimates, is never actually the weakest.
Three series. Three separate universes. The only thing they share is the continent and the belief that African mythology deserves to be at the centre of its own love stories. She now travels the world with her husband, writing in the hours that belong to her alone.

WHERE THE WORLDS COME FROM
The worlds behind the books.
Every creature, every system, every world in L.N. Bokete’s books is rooted in actual African mythology and folklore. This is not borrowed aesthetics or researched exoticism. She is Motswana. She grew up knowing what a Tokoloshe is. These stories were always hers to tell.
THE TOKOLOSHE
BOTSWANA / SOUTHERN AFRICAN FOLKLORE
In traditional belief, the Tokoloshe is a small, mischievous and often malevolent creature a water sprite used by those with ill intent. L.N. Bokete is from Botswana. She did not discover the Tokoloshe. She was warned about it. In the Tokoloshe Shifter Mates series, the truth behind the legend is more complicated: they are guardians, not monsters, and a dying race in desperate need of their fated mates.
TOKOLOSHE SHIFTER MATES
THE TOTEM SYSTEM
PAN-AFRICAN TRADITION
Across much of Africa, every person is bound to a totem animal an ancestral protector that marks their clan and kinship. In the Totem Series, this bond is literal: Spirit Walkers, Hunters, Healers and Librarians each carry the power of their totem in their blood. When the animal dies, the people follow.

THE ZODIAC SIBLINGS
AFRICAN COSMOLOGY & MYTHOLOGY
Twelve divine siblings children of gods each rooted in an elemental power and sent to Earth for one year to find love. The world they operate in is bureaucratic, ancient and deadly: the God Detection and Detention Unit polices divine activity across the globe. Love, in this world, is never simple.

WHAT SHE READS
The books that built the writer.

Psy-Changeling Series
Nalini Singh
"Her characters feel like real people you could actually know. That emotional authenticity is what I chase in every book I write."

The Horde King Series
Zoey Draven
"It showed me that simplicity of setting is never a limitation. Village life, handled right, can be as beautiful and epic as any palace."

Celestial Mates Series
Victoria Aveline
"The male characters are a masterclass. She proved that a well-crafted hero is just as important as the heroine. I have not forgotten that lesson."
